The Angels

We are all given an angel guardian at the moment of our conception. How often do we think of these blessed spirits? How often do we stop to take a moment to thank them for all the favors they obtained for us? There are nine choirs of angels, and each one has a specific duty to perform. They are too often overlooked and are not given much thought. Why is this? We live in a time where more consideration is given to "Harry Potter" and stories of ghosts and gobblins. The real existence of angels is hardly brought up among christians who claim to believe in their presence.

There were many occasions when I fell asleep while I was driving. I was a courier delivering aircraft parts and human organs. I worked crazy hours and rarely got sufficient sleep. I believe my guardian angel woke me up just before something terrible happened to me.

A great prayer I learned is the Chaplet of St. Michael. Next to the Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is my favorite. It is easy to learn and most effective against the rebel spirits who roam the earth seeking the ruin of souls.

According to St. Alphonsus Ligouri: "devotion to St. Michael and the holy angels is a mark of predestination." We need only think of them and they will come to our aid. Since angels are pure spirits, they can travel at the speed of thought. With a cogitation, I send my guardian angel to wherever the Holy Sacrifice is being offered throughout the world to be my representative at the altar of mercy. Since I am unable to attend a valid Mass on Sundays, I pray the Mass Prayers at home. This is the best way for me to gain all the necessary graces I need to persevere in the True Faith.

Oh my dear Angel Guardian, preserve me from the misfortune of offending God.

"Oh great St. Michael, take us 'neath thy shield,
Thy mighty power in our favor wield!"
